She's ready

Former World No.1 Marat Safin believes his sister Dinara is ready to take over the No.1 spot from Jelena Jankovic.

The siblings teamed up to represent Russia at the Hopman Cup in Perth this week. After losing in the final Marat showed great belief in his lil' sis'.

"I think she's ready."

"There's going to be a lot of nerves (at the Australian Open) and she has a huge chance, especially because she's not defending anything. She lost last year first round and she has a big chance to get closer to No. 1 and I think she's looking for this and she's ready to be there."

Marat might be right in his predictions, but the battle for supremacy at the woman's tennis top is on and apart from Dinara there are also 5 other women in serious contention for the hot spot.
