Dechy retires

Nathalie Dechy is retiring from professional tennis. The Frenchwoman is expecting her first child and decided to devote her time to family life.

Dechy had her best year in 2005 when unexpectedly she reached the Australian Open semifinals, beating Anastasia Myskina and Patty Schnyder along the way. She than came only within two points to beat Lindsay Davenport in the semis. The Frenchwoman followed up that success with very steady results, which allowed her to climb up the rankings to a career high of No.11.

The 30 year old won only one singles title, that coming in 2003 in Gold Coast. She exelerated in doubled winning the US Open in 2006 with Vera Zvonareva. She defended that title, but this time with a different partner - Dinara Safina. She also won mixed doubles at the French Open in 2007.

The Argwus Team wishes Nathalie all the best.
