Economic crisis in tennis

At the ATP board meeting in January, after losing the sponsorship deal with Mercedes Benz, it was decided to cut tournament fees by 3 milion dollars.

"In these difficult times the ATP has decided to give the tournaments a reduction in tournament fees to help them financially," a spokesman for the ATP said on Friday. He also added that this will allow tournaments to take some pressure off their bottom line while waiting for economic situation to improve.

WTA claims, that similar reductions in women's tour won't be made.
