Poor and innocent Nico

Frederico Gil from Portugal impresses us for the second week in a row. After reaching a semifinal in Johanessburg last week, Gil did the same in Costa do Sauipe.

His quarterfinal matchup against seeded nr 1 Nicolas Almagro was a great match, however some unfriendly incidents occured during that match.

Almagro, the defending champion accused Brazilian crowd of insulting him during and after the match.

"They called me 'maricon' (homosexual) during the match. Then I come out here and it happens again." an angry Almagro told tournament officials.

He was also dissatisfied with the VIP area drinking alcohol drinks while he was struggling on the court.

"I never before saw people drinking alcohol in a tennis stadium. It's unreal."

There was also some tension between the players durring the match. Almagro aimed a ball at Gil after one of the ralies.

Gil asked about that match after, just responded: "Almagro is a hothead."
