Lena joins The 500 Wins Club

Elena Dementieva has become the 27th woman to win 500 matches on the WTA Tour in the Open Era history. The Russian managed to win her 500th match on her second attempt as she defeated Sybille Bammer 7/5 6/2 in Dubai. Achieving that amazing feat would have been a whole lot sweeter if she managed to do it last week in the Paris final against the resurgernt Amelie Mauresmo. In order to make Lena forget about that bitter loss and focus her attention on her great victory, the organizers decided to sweetin' it a little more up for the Olympic Gold Medalist from Beijing with a cake. Nice gesture :)
