Volandri banned

Italy's Filippo Volandri has been banned for three months by the International Tennis Federation for abusing an asthma drug.

The Italian Tennis Federation said that Volandri's use of salbutamol was deemed beyond therapeutic needs.

The winner of two singles titles failed a drug test in March at last year's Indian Wells.

The ban began Thursday and will last til April 14th. This means the former world No.25 will miss the Australian Open, where he was due to play Mario Ancic in the 1st round.

What's the deal with the Italian tennis players that they always find a reason to get banned?
