I kissed a girl and liked it

Former French Open champion Anastasia Myskina was always there for having some fun, but this time she went further than we would have expected. Myskina, who recently gave birth to her first child, told the reporters she is a single mom. That's why these pictures come much more as a surprise. Anastasia is wildly kissing her new "girlfriend" Anna Semenovich, a Russian retired figure skater.
Is Anastasia really bisexual or had she just one glass of wine too many that evening....?

All these Russians...

"Some Russians are specific. Sharapova is inaccessible. She's always keeping herself out of the way. She's friends with noone. Chakvetadze is very similar. Kuznetsova, on the other hand, is great! She's funny and always the life and soul of the party. Dementieva is also very likeable. She's like a normal girl from the neighbourhood"

Gimenez will be supported by Toni Baldellou, who also works in the Sanchez Academy. Paszek visited the Academy in November to find someone she would like to work with.

This step will leave Tamira saying:

Pierce not ready to retire

Mary Pierce, one of WTA Tours top stars of the last two decades, says she isn't ready to hung up her raquet yet.

"I care about Roland Garros. If I could stand in center court for one match, that would already be a big victory,'' she said.

The two-time Grand Slam champion has been sidelined by a knee injuty since 2006. She ruptured a ligament in her left knee in a match against Vera Zvonareva. She hasn't competed professionally since.

"I don't feel it's the right moment (to announce my retirement),'' she told L'Equipe, adding that her left leg is weak but tests indicate her knee has recovered.

Dokic wins wildcard for the Aussie Open

Former World No. 4 Jelena Dokic will get a wildcard for the Australian Open 2009 as she won the annual wildcard play-off at Melbourne Park.

After years of constant struggling Dokic is once again attempting a comeback.
She will be playing a Grand Slam tournament only for the second time in the last four years (the last was in 2006, where she was a matchpoint up only to loose in three sets).

The Aussie admitted this week she was on the verge of quitting tennis.
"I wasn't playing, I wasn't competing, so, I did think about quitting. When you have a difficult time, it goes through your mind. So to be in the main draw again and be on the tour and playing again is a great feeling."

In the final the current World No.178 beat Monika Wejnert 67 75 63 (who she'd lost to in the Round Robin play).
"I was pretty much down and out the whole match, except a couple of games in the last set. The way it was going she should have won today, but I kept on fighting all the way, which I think is the way back." she said.

Davenport pregnant again

Former World No.1 Lindsay Davenport has withdrawn from the Australian Open. The three-time Grand Slam champion is expecting her second child.

“This unexpected but exciting surprise now means I will be putting tennis on hold for the foreseeable future” the 32- year-old said in a statement issued by her management company, IMG Worldwide Inc.

Davenport was named comeback player of the year 2007 after she won the first event she participated in. She came back only fourth months after giving birth to her first child Jagger. In Bali, back then, she managed to get wins over the current World No.1 Jelena Jankovic and Daniela Hantuchova in the final (both in three sets!).

Lets hope Linds' can one more time pull off such an amazing comeback. The Argwus Team wishes her the best of luck!

Petrova hospitalized

World No.11 Nadia Petrova has been forced to withdraw from January's ASB Classic. The 26-year-old is in hospital with viral meningitis and will not be travelling to Auckland.

"It's a shame Nadia will not be coming as I know she was looking forward to it, but in this situation she is obviously in need of medical care and our thoughts go out to her." said tournament director Brenda Perry.

Petrova as second seed will be replaced in the draw by Dannish teenager Caroline Wozniacki. Petrova's compatriot Elena Dementieva will be the tournament's top seed.
